Line Stopping and Isolation Work
Real Projects, Precise Execution, Zero Service Disruption
Every project on this page reflects work our crews have completed in the field. When you research a contractor before requesting a quote, you want proof that the team can handle your specific job safely and without shutting your system down. That’s exactly what these entries show.
Level A performs line stops, hot taps, wet taps, insertion valve installations, and pipe freezing for municipal and mechanical clients. Our crews are active across a broad stretch of the Gulf South, from Lake Charles and Central and Northern Louisiana to the Mississippi Gulf Coast communities of Biloxi and Gulfport, and reaching into Coastal Alabama and Southern Arkansas. We treat precision and safety as non-negotiable on every job. Whether we’re isolating a chilled water loop at a university or adding permanent control points at a water treatment plant, we plan each step carefully and keep your service running throughout.
Below, you’ll find a look at recent line stopping projects and pressure-critical work. Each entry outlines the scope and the result, so you can gauge whether we’re the right fit for your next project.
Completed Line Stopping and Isolation Projects
Two 16″ InstaValve Insertion Valve Installs at a South Louisiana Water Treatment Plant
A water treatment plant in South Louisiana needed two new, permanent control points on its existing lines, and it couldn’t afford to interrupt service to do it.
Our team installed two 16″ InstaValve insertion valves just outside the plant. An insertion valve install adds a permanent valve to a live line without shutting the main down, so the plant kept operating throughout the work.
The result speaks to the value of the right approach:
- We completed both installs in under a day.
- The plant gained two new, permanent control points.
- Service continued without interruption during the entire process.
Those valves now give the plant reliable isolation points for any future maintenance, reducing the scope of work and the number of customers affected by any single shutdown down the road.
8″ Line Stop at a South Mississippi Sewer Plant Pump Room
A sewer plant in south Mississippi needed to replace a failing three-way valve located just outside one of its pump rooms. The challenge was clear: the sewer line carried large volumes of active sludge, and cutting into it without isolation would expose the crew to that flow. Draining the system was not a practical option.
The Level A team performed an 8″ line stop on the sewer main to temporarily isolate the flow. The line stop sealed off the section downstream of the fitting, holding back the sludge so the valve could be accessed under safe, controlled conditions. With the isolation confirmed, a separate crew removed the failing three-way valve and installed the replacement without depressurizing the main or draining the line.
The result kept the plant protected and the crew safe:
- The 8″ line stop temporarily isolated flow in the active sewer main.
- The crew replaced the three-way valve with no exposure to sewage sludge.
- The sewer line stayed intact throughout, with no full system drain required.
This project shows how a line stop solves problems that would otherwise force a shutdown or expose crews to hazardous flow, protecting both your equipment and the people working on it.
The Range of Work Behind These Projects
The two projects above represent a slice of what we do. Across the region, our crews regularly handle:
- Hot tapping to create new connections on pressurized lines without a shutdown.
- Wet tapping to tie into live water and sewer mains while flow continues.
- Insertion valve installs that add permanent control points to existing lines.
- Line stopping with hydraulic plug stops to isolate sections for repairs, valve installation, and modifications.
Every one of these methods shares the same goal: let you complete critical work while your system stays in service. That means fewer disruptions for your facility, your community, and your bottom line.
We perform installations on PCCP, ductile iron, cast iron, asbestos cement, copper, HDPE and steel pipe, covering water, sewer, chilled water, hot water, and steam applications. Whatever your material or system, we bring the equipment and the experience to get the job done right.
